A call asking to "verify pension account data" may sound plausible, but a demand to provide card details, an SMS code, or transfer money to a "safe account" means one thing – fraudsters are on the line. This was warned by Alexey Govyrin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.
The verification itself does exist: the Social Fund may pay attention to accounts where only a pension has been deposited for a long time and no other operations occur. But such verifications are carried out through the internal channels of the fund and the bank. The fund receives information about the death of a pensioner directly from the Civil Registry Office, without calling relatives.
Neither the fund nor the bank calls demanding to dictate a code from a message, provide card details, or transfer a pension to some safe account. Any such call is a scam.
Identity, data relevance, or place of residence can only be confirmed through a personal visit to the Social Fund's client service or the MFC, via "Gosuslugi" (State Services portal), or by letter. Such issues are not resolved by phone.
The deputy also reminded that pensions in Russia are received on a "Mir" card, an account without a linked card, or through the post office. It is not advisable to give your card and PIN code to relatives: for this, there is a notarized power of attorney or home delivery of payments.
