Scammers have found a new way to seize websites: posing as Roskomnadzor employees, they threaten fines for non-compliance with domain identification requirements and demand access to the administrative panel. This was reported to TASS by Kaplan Panesh, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes.
Attackers identify websites with incomplete owner information, intimidate with fines ranging from 1,000 to 45,000 rubles, and insist on urgent access to the admin panel. After obtaining the login and password, they instantly change the credentials and effectively hijack the resource, after which they begin to extort money for its unblocking. Panesh emphasized: an official Roskomnadzor notification always contains a verification period, specific links to pages, and deadlines for rectifying violations, and the demand for admin panel access is a direct sign of fraud.
To avoid becoming a victim, it is enough to check the sender's address: genuine letters come exclusively from the rkn.gov.ru domain. The agency does not warn about inspections in advance, does not conduct paid "audits" by phone, and issues fines only after a manual inspection by an inspector. If access has already been granted, it is necessary to immediately change passwords and contact the hosting provider to regain control over the website.
