Il-114-300 Lost to the Old An-24 in Terms of Ownership Cost

However, the turboprop airliner surpassed its Soviet competitor in other parameters

The new Il-114-300 airliner is inferior to the Soviet An-24 in terms of ownership cost, but undoubtedly wins in other key operational characteristics. This was stated by Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the "Aviaport" agency.

He noted that the cost structure of a flight hour includes expenses for aviation fuel, airport services, ownership, maintenance and repair, as well as the payroll fund.

For each of these items, except for ownership cost, the Il-114-300 has significant advantages over the An-24.

The An-24 consumes up to 950 kg of fuel per flight hour, although it carries only 50 passengers. In contrast, the new Il-114-300 will consume 560 kg of fuel per hour, with the number of passengers being 64–66. Panteleev called this saving colossal.

"Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" conducted its own investigation and found that the Il-114-300 indeed surpasses the An-24 in comfort and flight range.
