It was decided not to install PD-14 engines on the Tu-214 instead of PS-90A

Aviation expert Gusarov: this would require an additional two years of flight tests

Despite the higher efficiency of the new PD-14 engine, there are no plans to install it on the passenger Tu-214 yet. This was stated by Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal.

Currently, Tu-214 aircraft use PS-90A engines, developed back in Soviet times. According to Gusarov, the PD-14 belongs to a more modern generation of engines and significantly surpasses the PS-90A in terms of efficiency.

However, the transition of the Tu-214 to a new engine will require a large-scale program of certification and flight tests.

I don't think the PD-14 will be installed on the Tu-214. It would require an additional two years of flight tests. It's not worth it, and time is precious.

"Pervy Tekhnichesky" recently compared the characteristics of the PD-14 with the "freshest" representative of the PS-90 series in the A3 version. We concluded that these power plants cannot be considered direct competitors.

As a result, the Tu-214 is being launched into production with PS-90A engines under its wings. The Kazan Aircraft Plant is preparing to increase production rates and is already posting new vacancies to find employees.
