Vietnamese Su-30MK2 fighters to receive supersonic missiles with acceleration up to Mach 3

India to supply BrahMos ammunition worth $629 million to the socialist republic

India and Vietnam have signed a contract for the supply of supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles to re-equip Vietnamese Su-30MK2 fighters. This was reported by Military Watch Magazine.

The deal is worth $629 million. The new missiles are expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of Vietnamese Su-30MK2s for long-range strikes against naval and ground targets.

BrahMos is a joint Russian-Indian supersonic missile, developed based on the Russian Yakhont complex. The munition is considered one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world.

BrahMos' speed reaches Mach 2.8–3, which is almost three times the speed of sound. This leaves minimal time for air defense systems to intercept the target.

The flight range of the basic version is about 300 km, while new modifications can reach up to 800 km. The missile can be launched from ships, submarines, ground installations, and aircraft.
