Scientists from Chelyabinsk found a way to extend engine life

South Ural State University developed a device that alerts the driver about the need to replace the oil filter

Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU, Chelyabinsk) have created a device for cars that alerts the driver about the need to replace the oil filter. This development can extend engine life, the university's press service reported.

The oil filter is housed in a sealed, non-separable casing, making it impossible to visually detect defects. However, Ural scientists have found an effective solution.

The product has a simple design, said Doctor of Technical Sciences Igor Levanov. It can be installed on new cars and vehicles with mileage, the specialist added.

The first test results confirmed that the signaling device can reduce engine repair costs.

The product does not affect engine operation. It is designed for multiple uses after oil filter replacement.

The developers have already patented the signaling device. Its industrial prototype has been undergoing tests on a Gazel car for several months.
