KPRF deputies plan to submit a bill to the State Duma that will enshrine the right of schoolchildren, students, and teachers to independently choose digital platforms for communication on educational matters. Vladimir Isakov, one of the authors of the initiative, told RTVI about this.
The document should prohibit coercion to use specific messengers, social networks, or educational platforms. According to the authors, "Sferum" may also fall under the initiative.
The main idea of the project is that refusing a certain service should not be a reason for sanctions. Students cannot be expelled, denied access to classes, or given bad grades for not wanting to use a specific platform. Teachers, in turn, should not be fired, deprived of payments, or punished for refusing an imposed digital tool.
Isakov noted that messengers can indeed be convenient, but their use should remain voluntary.
People - both children and adults - should have a choice of what resources to use. And forcing them to download applications that they personally do not need or are not interested in is wrong.
According to him, in some schools, teachers are already forced to report on the use of specific messengers and even send screenshots. Isakov called this practice excessive.
The authors of the initiative believe that digital services should not become a mandatory condition for access to education. If part of the class wants to use "Max", and part prefers another method of communication or ordinary notebooks, everyone should have a choice without risk to their studies or work.
