Russia to send bulletproof batteries to Africa and Asia

TopBat AGEL batteries can be cut in half and shot through - they will continue to work

RT-Proektnye Tekhnologii (part of Rostec) is preparing for export deliveries of Russian batteries that are resistant to shaking, high temperatures, and even bullet impacts. Partners from African, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries have shown interest in the products, as the reliability of equipment in hot climates is crucial for them.

The batteries are already actively used in the Russian market, including in equipment performing special tasks in the harshest conditions.

RT-Proektnye Tekhnologii produces a wide range of batteries created using various technologies. EFB – with liquid electrolyte, but with reinforced plates. Such batteries are resistant to discharge and charge faster. AGM – in these, the electrolyte is bound in a special fiberglass “sponge”. Such a battery does not leak, can be mounted in any position, withstands temperature fluctuations and even casing damage, including bullet holes. AQUA AGM – a marine version, resistant to salt water. AGEL – a special gel is added to fiberglass mats, which makes the battery even more resistant to aggressive factors.

Vasily Zuykov, General Director of RT-Proektnye Tekhnologii, noted that the service life of TopBat AGEL batteries reaches ten years. Such batteries retain their charge even after being cut in half or shot through with small arms. At the same time, the product line relies entirely on domestic components and allows for the replacement of foreign AGM and GEL class analogues in the Russian market.

Preparations are currently underway to launch an export program to friendly countries. The high reliability of the batteries in hot and dusty climates, insensitivity to unstable charging modes, and long service life make them in demand for developing markets – for guaranteed power supply to base stations, data centers, solar and wind power plants, as well as emergency systems in oil and gas fields.

All products are manufactured from Russian components at a fully localized NPP Impuls site. The capacity is more than 2 million batteries per year. TopBat batteries are already used by defense industry enterprises to replace foreign batteries. Operation in Arctic regions has confirmed the stable operation of the equipment at low temperatures and high loads.
