Hope for Rostselmash: China Triples Wheat Purchases from Russia

Exporters report a surge in supplies in 2026

Russian wheat supplies to China in the first four months of 2026 almost tripled – from $2.1 million to $5.99 million. At the same time, corn and barley exports sharply increased.

Currently, Russia can only supply spring wheat and barley to China. However, the main export potential lies in winter crops, which require completely different infrastructure for storage, transshipment, and transportation.

The domestic industry will have to increase production capacities for grain carriers, transshipment complexes, drying systems, railway logistics, and port equipment.

The increase in supplies could become a new hope for development for crisis-ridden Rostselmash, which produces harvesting equipment. Currently, the plant cannot afford new investments. The co-owner of the company, Konstantin Babkin, stated that the enterprise would try to bring at least the already launched projects to fruition.
