The Bank of Russia initiated the blocking of 10.5 thousand fraudulent websites and social media pages in the first quarter of 2026, according to documents published on the regulator's website.
Additionally, information on 8.3 thousand phone numbers used by fraudsters was sent to telecommunication operators. Data on 10,201 domains was transferred to the Prosecutor General's Office for subsequent access restriction.
During the same period, Russian banks repelled almost 16.8 million attempts of fraudulent operations and prevented the theft of 1.8 trillion rubles. The volume of stolen funds amounted to 7.4 billion rubles, while financial losses of individuals decreased by 10.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2025. Fraudsters targeted legal entities through malware: employees received emails with infected files that opened remote access to corporate systems.
The reduction in citizen losses is accompanied by a shift of attacks to other channels. Social engineering methods were used 37.5% more often in the first quarter, phishing attacks increased by 16.9%, and malware attacks more than doubled. At the same time, the number of DDoS attacks decreased by almost a third.
