Even after large-scale import substitution programs, the Russian aviation industry continues to use foreign components and service chains. This was announced by Yuri Zakharchenko, executive director of the RKK-Nauka professional association.
According to him, some components for the operation of foreign aircraft in the fleets of Russian airlines have to be sent abroad for repair, bypassing sanctions.
We export for repairs to the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, we interact with China. Sometimes through intermediaries, like Kazakhstan. Through them, we also receive spare parts for Airbus, Boeing.
However, this scheme increases the cost of maintenance and makes repairs more difficult due to additional logistical and sanction risks.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that by 2030, the share of domestic aircraft in the carriers' fleet is intended to be increased to 50%.
