Nizhnekamsk International Airport (Begishevo) named after Nikolai Lemaev received an "Atom" electric vehicle for test operation. It will escort aircraft upon landing, the brand's press service reported.
The "Atom" will also be used for personnel movement within the air harbor.
Runways are high-risk areas, and in such conditions, it is especially important that all transport is as predictable, safe, and controllable as possible.
The airport management highly appreciated the technical characteristics of the Russian electric vehicle, including its maneuverability, turning radius, fast acceleration, and braking system. The brand's press service did not rule out that "Atoms" might appear in other airports across the country.
The electric vehicle developer is JSC "Kama" (a partner of PAO "KAMAZ"). Up to 6,000 "Atoms" are planned for production in 2026. The first electric vehicles will be available to buyers in May 2026.
