The new Russian turboprop aircraft Il-114-300 surpasses the Soviet Yak-40 in all parameters; it is set to replace it on regional routes. This was stated by Oleg Panteleev, executive director of the Aviaport agency and an aviation expert.
He noted that all modern airliners are built with an impressive service life in mind. They have received an integrated diagnostic system to detect faults at an early stage.
If we are talking about the Yak-40, it is difficult to compare them. In terms of fuel efficiency, the turboprop Il-114-300, which carries more than twice as many passengers, will come out ahead, and by a very serious margin.
Panteleev clarified that the export prospects of the Il-114-300 will be determined by the aircraft's domestic operation.
It should be noted that the Il-114-300 accommodates 68 passengers versus 32 on the Yak-40, and its flight range at full load is 1,400 km (up to 5,000 km in ferry configuration), which is more efficient than the outdated counterpart (800–1,300 km).
On April 2, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov announced that the Il-114-300 had completely completed flight tests. Now a decision on issuing the type certificate is expected from Rosaviatsiya, and how long it will take to make it remains unknown.
