The domestic aviation industry will have to create 20 new critical technologies, new materials and coatings, as well as unique test benches, which have no analogues yet. This was stated by the United Engine Corporation.
The UEC added that engineers will also introduce new design and manufacturing technologies for parts of the advanced power plant.
The PD-35 has already passed tests with verification of operability in full-size engine conditions and at high altitudes. The UEC tested a high-pressure turbine, high-pressure compressor blades, and a low-emission combustion chamber.
Presumably, the PD-35 will begin to equip a promising Russian long-range aircraft. The current wide-body Il-96s, in theory, can also accommodate the engine under the wing. However, the cost of alterations may be equal to the development of a new airliner, explained "First Technical" aviation expert Roman Gusarov.
In March 2026, it became known that a new stand for testing experimental PD-35 engines is being built in the Perm region. The investment volume is estimated at 3.7 billion rubles.
