A Quarter of Russians Fear Losing Their Jobs Due to AI - Survey Results

Almost half of Russian citizens have felt the impact of neural networks on their memory, attention, and thinking

Many Russians are skeptical about the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into various sectors of the economy. About 25% of Russians fear that in the next 5-10 years, their employer will replace them with AI. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey conducted by VTB.

Only 7% of respondents have actually encountered cases of job loss due to AI, while about 21% have heard of such cases.

According to the survey, about 50% of Russians feel the impact of AI services on their cognitive abilities: memory, attention, and thinking. At the same time, 32% of respondents consider it positive, and 17% — negative.

Russians have a positive attitude towards humanoids (human-like robots) with AI for solving everyday tasks. Almost 70% agree to have such an assistant at home for cleaning and cooking.

VTB Deputy Chairman of the Board Vadim Kulik stated that user behavior is now forming faster than knowledge about new technologies is spreading.

People start using services first, and only then try to figure out how they work.

This approach reduces the level of conscious consumption of technologies, he summarized.

The survey was conducted in February 2026 in settlements with over 100,000 people. It involved 1,500 people over the age of 18.
