In the future, the newest VK-650V engine for Ansat and Mi-34 helicopters will also begin to be installed on heavy transport drones and promising aircraft-type vehicles. This was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The department emphasized that import-substituted versions of Ansat and Mi-34 are being tested with the certified VK-650V.
In the future, it is planned to use this engine as part of a hybrid-electric power plant for small promising aircraft-type aircraft with vertical or short take-off/landing, as well as heavy transport UAVs.
VK-650V surpasses its main competitors — the French Safran Arrius and the Canadian PW207 — in three key criteria: power, weight and fuel consumption.
Sergey Chemezov, head of the Rostec State Corporation, noted that the range of the VK-650V in terms of fuel consumption has increased to 640 km, in this it is also better than its Canadian counterpart.
