The "RED" plant received a five-year certificate for the production of TAD650 traction motors

The unit will be installed on high-speed trains for the HSR EVS360

The "Russian Electric Motors" plant in Chelyabinsk has received a certificate of compliance with TR TS 002/2011 for the serial production of TAD-650 asynchronous traction electric motors. The document is valid for five years — until March 2031. The motor is designed for the EVS360 high-speed train, which will run on the Moscow — St. Petersburg HSR route.

The first TAD650 prototype was shown in early 2025 at the "Ural Locomotives" plant, where the trains themselves are now being produced. The motor delivers a nominal power of 650 kW, the shaft rotates at a frequency of 5900 rpm, and the efficiency is at least 95%. At the same time, the unit weighs only 750 kg — this result is achieved thanks to aluminum body parts. Small dimensions and weight simplify installation and reduce the load on the train's chassis.

The press service of RED reported that the motor design confirmed a safety margin above regulatory requirements. This is important for operation at speeds up to 360 km/h, when the units are subjected to increased vibration and temperature loads. High efficiency means lower energy consumption and less heating — that is, higher reliability and lower operating costs.

The production of 688 TAD650 motors is planned for 2026–2029. This volume covers the current confirmed orders for 43 electric trains — and this is 344 cars — for the Moscow — St. Petersburg high-speed railway. In 2026 alone, the plant plans to ship 112 units.
