First CNC machine with two lasers being created in Russia

NCSFU equipment will speed up production by two times thanks to parallel processing

Engineers from the North Caucasus Federal University (NCSFU) are assembling a prototype of a laser CNC machine that simultaneously operates on two CO₂ lasers. The key innovation is parallel processing: the equipment manufactures a part and its exact copy in one cycle without separating tasks across different machines.

There are currently no serial machines of this class on the Russian market. Usually, manufacturers have to buy a second unit, lose workshop space, and increase energy consumption. The new architecture solves the problem within a single housing.

The system uses a single computer control unit that synchronizes both lasers. The operator sets the parameters once, after which the machine produces identical products in parallel. This speeds up small-scale production by almost two times.

The equipment works both as a standalone module and in conjunction with industrial lines. The machine processes plywood, wood, fabric, and composite materials. Engineers are currently assembling the frame structure. The project is scheduled to launch in October 2026.
