Malfunction in Orbit: "Progress MS-33" to Dock with ISS Manually

All other systems of the ship, except for the rendezvous antenna, are functioning normally

After the launch of the "Progress MS-33" cargo ship, one of the antennas of the "Kurs" rendezvous system did not deploy as planned. The remaining systems are functioning normally, and the flight is proceeding as expected.

The "Roscosmos" State Corporation continues its attempts to restore the operation of the unit. If the antenna cannot be deployed, the crew of the International Space Station will perform the docking in teleoperator mode.

Station Commander Sergei Kud-Sverchkov confirmed his readiness to take control. According to him, astronauts regularly practice manual docking on simulators and onboard systems.

Therefore, without waiting for a message about the failure, we will take control during docking as instructed by the Mission Control Center. This is certainly an unusual situation, but we are always prepared for it.
Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, ISS Commander

As a reminder, the ship launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on a "Soyuz-2.1a" rocket on Sunday, March 22. Docking with the "Poisk" module is scheduled for March 24. The flight to the station lasts about 49.5 hours.
