In Voronezh, the status of a 117-hectare plot of land near the runway of the local VASO aircraft plant has been officially changed. The territory has been reclassified to "7.4 Air Transport" in order to formalize the project to extend the runway.
The decree was posted on the local mayor's office website. The specific term of the permit to use the site is surprising — for five years, and the agreement is not subject to extension. Its cost is 1.7 billion rubles.
The head of the Ministry of Industry of the Voronezh Region, Sergey Khlyzov, previously explained the underutilization of VASO's capacities by the lack of orders for Il-96 series aircraft.
In his opinion, airlines are waiting for the opportunity to buy Boeing again. In the meantime, the main recipient of wide-body aircraft remains the special flight detachment "Russia."
