Rybinsk enterprise "ODK-Saturn" may accelerate the production of PD-8 aircraft engines for SJ-100 and Be-200 amphibians. The authorities of the Yaroslavl region are considering the creation of a special economic zone in the region, the government press service reported.
This issue was discussed at a working meeting by Governor Mikhail Evraev and General Director of ODK-Saturn Ilya Konyukhov.
The goal of the project is to concentrate the capacity for the production of tooling and components for gas turbine engines, which will optimize logistics and accelerate production rates.
Initially, the certification of PD-8 was planned for November 2025, but now it has been postponed to the first quarter of 2026. Rostec reported that PD-8 successfully completed the most difficult 150-hour certification test — testing at maximum operating load.
At the end of 2025, ODK-Saturn introduced the latest laser installation for cutting parts of aircraft engines.
