MC-21 and Tu-214 will bring back cheap air travel to Russians

S7 Group's main shareholder did not rule out the return of low-cost airlines after the aircraft are released

S7 Group may consider creating a low-cost airline after the domestic MC-21 and Tu-214 aircraft are released on the market in sufficient volume. This was announced by Vladislav Filev, the main shareholder of S7 Group.

We don't have any planes in the country yet. When they make the Tu-214 and MC-21, then we'll see.

S7 Group planned to create a subsidiary low-cost airline Citrus back in 2022, but froze the project due to the actual lack of aircraft. A low-cost airline implies an airline that offers very cheap tickets by abandoning most of the usual services.

S7 Group signed a memorandum with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) and the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) for the supply of 100 Tu-214 aircraft from 2029. The main recipient of the new MC-21-310 is "Aeroflot", which has already signed a second "hard" contract with UAC for 90 aircraft.
