A way to make PD-8 and PD-14 more environmentally friendly has been named

Analyst Marzhetsky proposed introducing palladium catalysts into the units

Russian aircraft engines PD-8 and PD-14 can be made more environmentally friendly if palladium catalysts are introduced into them. This was stated by aviation analyst Sergei Marzhetsky.

His idea is to place these materials on the inner wall of the flame tube of the combustion chamber of a jet engine, at the exit from the combustion zone.

This will simultaneously intensify the afterburning process of fuel and significantly reduce harmful emissions, increasing the environmental friendliness of the power plant.

Marzhetsky summarized that this approach will improve the environmental characteristics of power units. Another effect of the introduction of palladium catalysts will be the creation of an internal market for palladium in the domestic aircraft industry for companies such as Nornickel and Russian Platinum, he concluded.

Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK accelerated the welding of parts for PD-8 and PD-14 engines by 10 times.
