OAK plans to produce dozens of SJ-100s per year in India

Vadim Badekha: "It is important that this be a steady, balanced volume for 7-10 years"

United Aircraft Corporation (OAK, part of the state corporation "Rostec") is focused on creating sustainable and steady production of the SJ-100 regional aircraft in India. This was reported to journalists by OAK CEO Vadim Badekha on the sidelines of the NAIS 2026 forum.

According to the corporation's chief executive, the market of India and neighboring countries has significant potential. In the long term, OAK expects to reach stable production rates of several dozen aircraft annually.

I think a good rate would be from 20 to 40 aircraft [per year].
Vadim Badekha, head of OAK

The head of OAK particularly emphasized the importance of a balanced approach to production localization. According to him, it is fundamentally important to avoid sharp surges in volume followed by a decline. It is necessary to ensure even and predictable demand over a 7-10 year horizon so that the project remains economically viable and makes it possible to effectively develop cooperation with Indian partners.

For us, of course, it is fundamentally important that we do not have explosive growth and then deterioration in volumes.
Vadim Badekha, head of OAK

Such a strategy, in Badekha's view, will create a reliable foundation for a joint Russian-Indian project in civil aviation, drawing on many years of experience of cooperation in the defense sector.
