The PD-8 aircraft engine successfully passed the most difficult certification test. For one and a half months, the operation of all the unit's systems was checked at maximum modes simulating long-term operation, the United Engine Corporation (ODK, part of Rostec) reported.
In total, the tests took 150 hours. The developers set themselves the goal of confirming the high operational safety of the PD-8 in real-world service. The work was carried out at the ODK-Aviadvigatel test stand in Perm.
Based on the results of the block test, the PD-8 demonstrated reliability when simulating real long-term operation.
The engineers checked the engine's long-term operation at maximum and minimum fuel and oil pressures and temperatures, as well as at maximum air bleed from the compressor. The tests were conducted in accordance with the program and completed in full.
