Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin revealed important details of the construction of the high-speed railway line (HSR) from Moscow to St. Petersburg. According to forecasts, the trip from the Russian capital to Valdai will take just one hour. Travel time to Veliky Novgorod will be one hour and forty minutes.
And in 2028 it will start running. To Novgorod — one hour and forty minutes, and near Borovichi there will be a station — where the Uglovka station is now, there will be the Valdai station, and from Moscow it will be one hour.
The Moscow — St. Petersburg high-speed railway line will include 14 stops. Passengers will be able to get off at stations such as Leningradsky Station, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya, Valdai, and others.
The total length of the route will be about 700 km, passing through six regions of the country with a population of 30 million people. It is expected that by 2030 the number of passengers will grow to 23 million per year.
Design and construction are planned through 2028, and the line is scheduled to be put into operation in 2028.
