Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that provides for fines for owners of temporarily imported cars for violations of tinting rules.
According to the document, Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses has been amended with part 3.1, which establishes a fine of 500 rubles for excessive tinting of windows. Previously, light transmission was regulated by the technical regulations of the Customs Union of 2011, and now the provisions of the document "Basic provisions for the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of officials to ensure road safety" will be applied.
The law also stipulates that drivers with documents confirming the placement of the vehicle under the customs regime for a period of no more than six months may be held liable for improper tinting. This applies to cars temporarily imported for personal use without registration with the traffic police.
At the same time, the requirements for light transmission of windows remained the same — at least 70% for ordinary cars. The law comes into force in 10 days.
