Azimut, a part of Rostec, has completed operational tests of the new Galaktika air traffic control system, which has received a type certificate from Rosaviation. Rostec reported that the system will be implemented in the Moscow Regional Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System (ES OrVD) in 2026.
It is noted that Galaktika operates on domestic equipment and software. Andrey Potemkin, Deputy Head of Rosaviation, explained that the system provides a more advanced version of managing the flow of departing and arriving aircraft, which will streamline traffic and reduce the time spent in the waiting area.
The press service of Rostec added that the transition to Galaktika will continue the process of improving the air navigation system in the Central Federal District. The first step in this direction was taken in 2017, when the domestic complex "Sintez-AR4" replaced the Swedish system "TERCAS", which had been in operation since the 1980s.
The Moscow Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System (ES OrVD) zone includes more than 100 airfields, including 10 international ones.
