The latest PD-35 engine will receive a type certificate in two years

The power plant is planned to be used on liners with a capacity like the Il-96

Rostec plans to obtain a type certificate for the new PD-35 engine within two to three years. This was announced by the head of the state corporation, Sergey Chemezov.

He called this period the minimum for obtaining a document for the serial production of a power plant.

Let us remind you that a type certificate is issued to the developer once. It confirms that the typical design of the product complies with all safety and airworthiness standards and can be mass-produced without checking the design of each of them from scratch.

PD-35 gas generator will become the basic one for engines of the future family of turbofan dual-circuit power plants with a thrust of up to 38 tons.

General Designer of the United Engine Corporation Alexander Inozemtsev noted that currently PD-35 power plant tests are ongoing at a stand in Perm.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also suggested that technological developments of a high-thrust engine on the PD-35 may be applied in the design of an engine for a new long-range aircraft such as the Il-96. There is no information about the start of work on the liner.
