Wind of change: Rustam Minnikhanov resigns from Tupolev's board of directors

The company produces Tu-160 bombers and Tu-214 airliners

The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, has left his post as chairman of the board of directors of PJSC Tupolev (part of the Rostec United Aircraft Corporation). He is not on the updated list of the board of directors.

Sources in the aircraft industry did not rule out that Minnikhanov could become a member of the UAC board of directors. Minnikhanov took over as chairman of the Tupolev board of directors in 2021. Previously, this position was held by Sergei Konosov.

It should be reminded that the Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ) is located in Kazan, where Tu-160M bombers are produced, and the production of Tu-214 passenger aircraft has also been launched.

According to Oleg Panteleev, director of the Aviaport agency, the Tatarstan authorities traditionally actively lobby for the inclusion of local enterprises' products in federal programs and provide them with regional support.
