Experts told when the Russian response to Starlink will be launched — the Rassvet satellite constellation

By 2030, it is planned to launch up to 300 thousand satellites as part of the national project "Data Economy"

Russia is developing the low-orbit satellite constellation Rassvet, designed to become a domestic analogue of the American Starlink system. The project is scheduled to launch in 2027, said Karen Kazaryan, Director of the Institute for Internet Research, in an interview with Abzats.

According to the expert, Rassvet is being created as part of the national project "Data Economy" and will provide stable access to the Internet throughout the country, including remote regions. By 2030, it is planned to launch about 300 satellites into orbit, he said.

Kazaryan noted that the system is primarily intended for civilian use — military purposes are not being considered, since defense structures require a higher level of protection, encryption and accuracy.

State Duma deputy Sergei Boyarsky previously stated that after the group reaches full capacity, Russia will be able to provide access to it to allied states, strengthening cooperation in the field of digital infrastructure.

The Rassvet project is being implemented by Bureau 1440. By 2035, the number of groups may exceed 900 devices.
