The import-substituted MC-21-310 aircraft with tail number 73057 performed flights in echelons with acceleration to maximum speeds during testing. This was reported by a source at the Gromov Flight Research Institute.
The crew decelerated the aircraft to minimum speed and maximum angles of attack, and also accelerated it to the maximum indicated airspeed and Mach number.
The aircraft's factory refinement tests (ZDI) are aimed at assessing the stability, controllability, and functioning of the aircraft's systems in long-haul flight modes.
Currently, the aircraft is being prepared in Irkutsk at the Flight Test and Refinement Complex of PJSC Yakovlev. The first flight of the aircraft took place on October 28. As a reminder, the aircraft is already equipped with PD-14 engines and a wing made of Russian polymer composite materials.
Sergey Chernyshev, Scientific Director of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N. E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI), explained that the MC-21 and SJ-100 aircraft will be able to accelerate up to 850 km/h.
