British authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether sanctions were violated due to the acquisition of Russian aircraft. This was reported by The Observer newspaper.
According to the Department for Business and Trade, the British side imported goods from Russia worth £80 million—approximately €105 million—from January to June 2025.
Almost half of this amount, £36.3 million, was for Russian aircraft, specifically airplanes. The material does not specify which ones.
British officials could not confirm whether these purchases were permitted under the current sanctions regime. It prohibits the acquisition of aircraft and technologies that "could provide significant revenue for Russia."
