Russia has resumed flights to the Khmeimim airbase in Syrian Latakia for the first time in six months. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing Flightradar24 data.

Between October 24 and 26, at least two Russian aircraft arrived in Syria. A Russian Air Force Il-62M transport aircraft flew from Libya to Latakia on October 26, and then returned to the Moscow region.

In addition, the heavy transport aircraft An-124-100 "Ruslan" has landed three times at the Khmeimim airbase in recent days.

Characteristics of An-124 "Ruslan":

  • Crew - 4-6 or 6-7 people, depending on the modification
  • Maximum take-off weight - 405,000 kg
  • Maximum payload - 120-150 tons
  • Cruising speed - 865 km/h
  • Practical range - 16,500 km

An-124-100 "Ruslan" is one of the most heavy-lift aircraft in history, first introduced in 1984.

Currently, the aircraft has no direct analogues; it is the largest aircraft in domestic military transport aviation. Thedevelopment cost of one such aircraft was estimated at $300 million.
