The Belarusian airline Belavia plans to expand its fleet of aircraft and intends to purchase new aircraft, including Russian ones. This was announced by the company's General Director Igor Cherginets.
According to him, despite the difficulties caused by the US and EU sanctions, the carrier continues to update its fleet: last year Belavia acquired three Airbus A330 aircraft.
We have signed a preliminary memorandum on mutual work with the United Aircraft Corporation on MC-21 and Superjet aircraft. We are waiting for the release of these aircraft. While they are in the certification and testing stage, technical characteristics and cost are being clarified. This process should be completed in 2026-2027, then we will proceed to a clearer issue of purchasing these aircraft - at what price, where they will be able to fly. We'll see later.
Cherginets noted the productive negotiations with Russian colleagues, which took place in Minsk at the Innoprom exhibition. In the meantime, the carrier continues to work on the purchase of aircraft from other manufacturers.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the normal operation of the PD-14 aircraft engine at all stages of the MC-21-310 flight has been confirmed.
