Baltic Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) has successfully installed another enlarged block of living superstructure sections weighing approximately 300 tons on the universal nuclear icebreaker of Project 22220, Chukotka, the company's press service reported.
Upon completion of construction, it will house cabins, a wardroom, a dining room, recreation areas, and other facilities for the crew.
The installed block is 22 m long, 25 m wide, and 8.5 m high. It already has ventilation shafts, piping for general ship systems, and other necessary equipment installed.
The installation was carried out in several stages using heavy-duty modular platforms, tugs, overhead cranes, and floating cranes.
Upon completion of the installation of hull structures, the arrangement of interior spaces will begin.
Chukotka is the fifth vessel of Project 22220, which is being built by order of Rosatom. The icebreaker was laid down at the Baltic Shipyard in December 2020 and launched in November 2024.
