Certification of the import-substituted version of the MC-21 aircraft is still expected at the end of 2026. The Irkut Aviation Plant still needs to replace five foreign-made systems and subsystems in the aircraft, said Dmitry Yadrov, head of Rosaviatsiya.
He clarified that the aircraft has more than 200 systems and subsystems in total.
Today, we are in the final stage with five extreme components, systems, and subsystems: these are the icing system, water-vacuum system, collision warning system, weather radar, and power supply.
The head of the agency expressed confidence that after the completion of the work, a clear understanding of the timing of the start of production of the MC-21 will appear. Yadrov noted that Russia is still within the designated framework for the serial production of the aircraft.
The experienced MC-21 has performed 19 certification flights to date, bench tests are actively underway, and evidentiary documentation is being provided, Yadrov added.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Il-114-300 will receive a certificate only in 2026.
