«Летающая бочка»: бывший вице-президент ОАК высмеял идею укороченного МС-21

Leonid Komm recalled that such an experiment failed even for Airbus and Boeing

The plans of the United Aircraft Corporation (part of the Rostec Group) to build a shortened version of the MC-21 are doomed to failure in advance. This opinion was expressed by the former Vice President of UAC, Leonid Komm.

МС-21

He recalled that Western aircraft manufacturers from Boeing and Airbus have already tried to put shortened aircraft on the wing, but all such projects have failed.

If they [UAC] want to make a shortened version, well, whatever comes to mind, this is a disastrous option. The plane turns out to be like a flying barrel, and extremely suboptimal.
Leonid Komm, former Vice President of UAC

The head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, stated that UAC will provide a sketch of a shortened version of the MC-21 by the end of 2025. He clarified that the "short" version of the MC-21 will differ in a shorter fuselage.

The number of seats will also be reduced — from 175 in the MC-21-310 to approximately 153. Chemezov assured that such aircraft are in demand among airlines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that "ODK-Klimov" revealed all stages of production of aircraft engines for Il-114-300 and "Ansat".
