The Novosibirsk Electric Locomotive Repair Plant (NERZ, part of the Sinara – Transport Machines holding) is modernizing its production facilities. The company has commissioned new lathes, coordinate measuring machines and wheelset disassembly and assembly presses. This was reported by the holding's press service.
The funds for the re-equipment of the plant were received from the Industrial Development Fund (in the form of a preferential loan of 300 million rubles). As a result of the modernization, from January to August 2025, 212 locomotive sections were repaired, which is 12.7% more than in the same period of 2024.
Productivity growth — by 10%. Increased competence in the repair of 2ES6 "Sinara" electric locomotives. The development of medium repair (includes partial disassembly, replacement and inspection of parts) of 2ES10 "Granit" has begun.
About 2ES6 and 2ES10 electric locomotives
The 2ES6 "Sinara" is a freight two-section eight-axle main electric locomotive with collector traction motors, manufactured by the Ural Railway Engineering Plant (UZhZM) in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The model has been produced since 2006. In total, more than 1.5 thousand electric locomotives were assembled.
2ЭС10 «Гранит» is a freight two-section eight-axle electric locomotive with an asynchronous traction drive. It is also produced at the UZhZM facilities. Since 2010, up to 200 locomotives of this model have been produced. 2ES10 "Granit" is considered one of the most powerful in Russia.
