Moscow Authorities Use Unique Digital Twin of the City

The software has no analogues in the world

For a long time, the capital's authorities studied the issues of digitalization, automation, and robotization of other megacities, which helped them turn the city into the second megacity in the world in terms of GDP purchasing power. This was stated at the forum "Cloud Cities. BRICS Cities of the Future Forum" by the Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy, Vladislav Ovchinsky.

We continue to strive for international leadership. Our indicators meet high standards. Over 15 years, we have almost doubled the city's transport framework: we have built as much as we did in the previous 75 years. We solved the problem with traffic jams: traffic has decreased, and residents have become more comfortable getting to work. Problems remain, but they have significantly decreased.
Vladislav Ovchinsky

According to him, the city has grown in a number of areas: the financial sector, manufacturing, and IT. Ovchinsky said that Moscow became the leader in industrial production three years ago, thanks to technology. He emphasized that technologies need to be implemented where it is appropriate.

In construction, we have moved to a new technological order. We have created an absolutely unique digital twin, which currently has no analogues in the world. It allows us to see all the limitations: underground, above-ground, and aerial.
Vladislav Ovchinsky

According to him, all urban planning decisions are made with the help of this complex. Ovchinsky said that the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, personally participates in meetings related to construction. This approach increases efficiency and saves time.

The authorities have implemented digital master planning and digitized interaction with investors and contractors. We have completely abandoned paper document management in this area.

Digitalization has two important tasks: to speed up processes and improve the quality of life. When implementing technologies, we always take into account the impact on the end user, because technologies should work for the benefit of citizens and the authorities, and not for the sake of demonstrating innovations.
Vladislav Ovchinsky
