Russian wide-body aircraft, such as the Il-96-300PU, can perform non-stop flights from Moscow and other Russian cities directly to Alaska, according to Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the Aviaport agency and aviation expert.
According to him, Alaska has airfields capable of receiving these aircraft. Planes serving such visits can carry out direct non-stop flights to Alaska and from Moscow.
Transport aircraft that deliver cars and necessary property may follow with intermediate landings in Siberia or the Far East.
The Il-96 is a Soviet wide-body long-range aircraft. The Il-96-300 modification is used by the "Russia" special flight detachment for important government transportation.
The presidential Il-96 is easily recognizable by its special government livery with the coat of arms of the Russian Federation and distinctive fairings on the "hump" of the fuselage, which conceal satellite communication antennas. Additional fuel tanks have been added to increase the flight range.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the new VK-800SP aircraft engine began testing on the UTS-800 aircraft before the LMS-901 "Baikal".
