Scammers may use users' "Gosuslugi" accounts to apply for tax deductions to their own accounts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs warns.
The attackers gain access to the taxpayer's account and submit a request for a deduction, specifying their details for receiving the money. In addition, by hacking the account, scammers gain access to passport data, SNILS, credit history, and information about real estate.
Possessing this data, they call victims under the guise of representatives of various organizations, extorting money. The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that scammers are now less likely to call first — more often the victim initiates contact after receiving alarming messages about an alleged "Gosuslugi" hack.
At the same time, the department emphasizes: "Gosuslugi" never sends such notifications via SMS or messengers.
