Pacific Fleet ship group destroys mock enemy submarine with Smerch-2 system

The corvette Gremyashchiy, small anti-submarine ships Ust-Ilimsk, MPK-82, and MPK-107 were involved in the July Storm exercises

A strike group of the Pacific Fleet, consisting of the corvette Gremyashchiy (Project 20385), small anti-submarine ships Ust-Ilimsk, MPK-82, and MPK-107 (Project 1124M), discovered and destroyed a mock enemy submarine in the Avacha Bay during the July Storm exercises. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Naval anti-submarine search and strike group of the Pacific Fleet

The ships interacted with Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters and Il-38 aircraft. Then they carried out live firing at a submarine simulation from RBU-6000 rocket launchers (Smerch-2).

The Soviet rocket launcher is designed for anti-submarine defense. The Smerch-2 consists of 12 barrels with a caliber of 212 mm, the RB-6000 fires unguided depth charges RGB-60 at a distance of up to 6 km.
