Currently, the flight performance characteristics (FPC) of the MC-21 aircraft do not meet the planned levels. This was stated by the Department of State Policy in the Field of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport in a message to the airline and aviation enterprise.
The agency noted that certification tests are currently being conducted, and their completion date is August 2026.
At the same time, the cost of the aircraft also increased by 65% in the last two years — up to 7.6 billion rubles. In 2023, the price of the aircraft was estimated at 4.3–4.6 billion rubles, excluding subsidies from the National Welfare Fund (NWF).
The fully import-substituted MC-21 with domestic onboard systems is scheduled to take to the skies in August this year, noted Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
