At the III International Scientific and Business Conference POLAR 2025 in St. Petersburg, the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) showcased new developments for Arctic exploration and signed an important agreement with the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
During the shipbuilding session "New Times - New Ships. Modern Requirements for Arctic Vessels," Alexander Rogachev, project manager at USC Almaz, presented several promising concepts:
- Semi-submersible vessel for transporting super-heavy and oversized cargo;
- Tanker for transporting oil, gas condensate, and petroleum products;
- Ice-class container ship;
- Research vessel;
Special emphasis was placed on digital modeling, which speeds up design and reduces construction costs. The signed agreement between USC and the Institute of Oceanology involves the joint development of new research vessels for government tasks.
