Delivery robots will soon participate in traffic on par with cars and people. They will be allowed to move on sidewalks and bike paths at speeds up to 25 km/h.
To track violations, special identifiers will be introduced: license plates and QR codes. In the event of an accident involving robots, certain rules for registration and mandatory insurance in the amount of 500 thousand rubles will apply. This is provided for in the draft experimental legal regime (EPR) that Yandex sent to the Ministry of Economic Development. In the future, the EPR will lead to the appearance of robots in 20 regions of the country.
The EPR will officially assign robots the status of full-fledged road users.
In the future, robots will be able to move inside buildings, as well as along the roadsides, their right edge, and sidewalks. At intersections, they will follow traffic light signals intended for pedestrians and cyclists.
Rovers will be allowed to stand on sidewalks and in pedestrian zones. In Moscow, they will also be able to stop near special structures and in places where there are markings for parking bicycles and electric scooters.
Earlier it became known that Yandex is preparing for mass production of new generation of courier robots, which will be more efficient.
