Volga-Dnepr cargo airline sees attempts of piratical seizure of the An-124 aircraft, arrested in Canada due to the decision of local authorities to close the sky for carriers from Russia. This was reported in the company's press service.
Igor Aksenov, General Director of Volga-Dnepr, noted that the airline receives information about the intention to transfer the aircraft to third parties, as well as footage of an illegal inspection.
Now we see real attempts of piratical seizure. Lately, we have been receiving alarming messages and footage from Canada, which records an attempt by unauthorized persons to board the aircraft. Any technical work performed by unqualified aviation specialists can lead to serious damage to the aircraft.
Since 2022, the Canadian government has been holding one of the carrier's aircraft – the An-124 transport aircraft, which was performing a humanitarian flight to transport COVID-19 test kits. The Russian side continues to seek the return of the aircraft.
An-124-100 is a transport aircraft capable of carrying heavy and oversized cargo. Between 2015 and 2022, Volga-Dnepr operated more than 250 flights for Canada, carrying 9,500 tons of oversized cargo for industrial projects.
For example, in 2017, the company made 21 flights for a mining company to the Mary River Arctic ground airfield in Northern Canada to deliver tractors, trailers and semi-trailers.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rostec showed a detailed video of the Superjet flight with PD-8 at extreme speed.
