The Prirazlomnaya Ice-Resistant Offshore Stationary Platform (MLSP), built at Sevmash, has extracted 30 million tons of oil in the Barents Sea. It is the only Russian facility operating on the Arctic shelf, according to the shipbuilding enterprise's press service.
The Prirazlomnaya platform operates at temperatures as low as -50°C. It extracts a unique grade of oil known as Arctic Oil (ARCO).
To create this colossal structure, Sevmash shipbuilders mastered dozens of advanced technologies, including platform system design and a unique underwater welding method.
The total length of underwater welds is about 3,000 meters. The MLSP was built and delivered to the customer, Gazprom Neft Shelf LLC, in 2013. Platform specifications: weight - 117,000 tons, height - 141 m, production capacity - up to 5 million tons per year, autonomy (shift change) - 30 days.
