Ростовский завод просрочил сдачу самого большого вертолёта в мире Ми-26Т2 и заплатит 315 млн рублей

Acceptance of the giant rotorcraft took place in December 2022 instead of March

Rostov-based company Rostvertol will pay 315 million rubles for flight tests of the giant Mi-26T2 helicopter that were not carried out on time. The schedule shifted "to the right" due to the "closed sky" regime over the Rostov region and changes in the documentation.

The delay was eight and a half months; instead of March 2022, the Southern Aviation Rescue Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia received the Mi-26T2 in December 2022.

Rostvertol argued in court that it could not hand over the equipment earlier, as the helicopter was undergoing testing, and the schedule was affected by restrictions related to the closure of airspace for flights. Nevertheless, on March 14, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal, and then the Arbitration Court of Moscow, concluded that the accrual of penalties was lawful.

The court agreed with the argument that the situation with the airspace over the Rostov region interfered with flight tests, but drew attention to the fact that if Rostvertol had initially delivered the helicopter on schedule, the restrictions would not have affected the project.

Rostvertol completed the necessary documents in July 2022 and conducted the tests. At the same time, the delivery of the helicopter to the customer began. However, the procedure was delayed until November 2022, as shortcomings were discovered during acceptance, which also required time to eliminate.

Mi-26T2 is a modernized version of the super-heavy Mi-26T helicopter. The machine is capable of carrying up to 82 passengers, can transport cargo weighing up to 20 tons, has a flight range of 800 km, a cruising speed of 255 km/h, and a maximum flight altitude of 4.6 km.

The main advantage of the model is its onboard avionics; the helicopter can fly at any time of the day, which is important during rescue operations.
