The latest Russian PD-8 turbofan engine is a completely domestic development. The power plant was created at UEC-Saturn, and other enterprises of the United Engine Corporation (UEC) participated in its production.
PD-8 is a modern engine with a thrust of 8 tons. The unit is designed for short-haul SSJ-100 aircraft. In the future, it can also be used on the Be-200 amphibious aircraft.
The engine was created using the latest domestic materials and advanced technologies. Computer modeling results were used to speed up its certification.
The start of production of the SJ-100 with the new engine, according to the latest data, is scheduled for 2026.
